NOW- NYS President Marcia Pappas states, “The National Organization for Women - New York State, Inc. resolutely supports a woman’s right to control her own body and reproductive decisions, free from undo interference from government as well as individuals or groups who seek to impose their religious beliefs on others. To show our unwavering dedication to safe and legal abortion without unconstitutional obstruction, NOW-NYS will join with local chapters to demonstrate against Oh Saratoga, a group of anti-choice religious zealots who will be visiting the Planned Parenthood on Lark Street, and then Capitol Park. The National Organization for Women – New York State will stand in silent solidarity with the patients of Planned Parenthood at 9am, and then will move on to demonstrate at Capitol Park at 11am.”
Ms. Pappas describes the members of Oh Saratoga as “a group of religious radicals that seek to not only deny a woman her right to make her own reproductive choices, but also seek to impose their radical religious views and intolerance on others using sensationalism and scare tactics. As a testament to their extremism, one only needs to log onto their website, www.ohsaratoga.com/lark.html, where they liken those who live alternative lifestyles as ‘demons’ and abortion clinics as ‘death camps.’ These crazies will be sure to come out with their grotesque posters depicting dead babies, that are most likely the result of still births than an abortion.”
The National Organization for Women - NYS is dedicated to exposing the extremist views and methods of groups such as Oh Saratoga. Ms Pappas elaborates and states, “NOW will continue to stand in support of a woman’s right to choose, free from the imposing religious fanaticism propagated by Oh Saratoga. We find their sensationalist tactics to be deplorable and indicative of their extremist mentality. We will not allow these radicals to scare women and coerce them into motherhood, and will continue to oppose their outrageous views.”
